Yes, I am busy working

What is your idea of how a writer should look?
Freezing and starving in a tiny garret? Sitting at a huge partners desk with a large writing pad and special fountain pen? Or perhaps hunched over a laptop in a noisy cafe?

I spend a maximum of two hours a day sitting at my dining table, typing onto my computer, usually with various dogs, chickens and a cat supervising. The rest of the time I am working out plots, exploring characters, and picking up ideas as I spend time with my horses and dogs, or observe people in the street, pubs, or at antiques fairs and shops. Yesterday I spotted this convenient fallen tree in our horses' field, which has been down for a few years and the horses, or probably more likely Bracken the New Forest pony, have worn away the bark to a smooth seat, perfect for sitting on and thinking in the open air with only the farming noises around to hear. As soon as I climbed onto it Bramble sprang up beside me, and Spider tried to work out how he too could join us.
Perfect place to work.
